Our Jewellery Care Guide

Jewellery Care Guide

At Ella & Faith London, we create jewellery designed to be worn, enjoyed and treasured. With the right care, you can help maintain the beauty, shine and finish of your pieces for longer.

Everyday Jewellery Care

To help keep your jewellery looking its best:

  • Store your jewellery in a dry place when not being worn.
  • Avoid unnecessary contact with perfumes, lotions, oils and harsh chemicals.
  • Put your jewellery on after applying skincare and fragrance.
  • Clean your pieces regularly to remove everyday oils and build-up.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently polish your jewellery.

Different materials naturally respond differently to wear, skin chemistry and the environment. Caring for your jewellery helps preserve its appearance for longer.

Cleaning Your Jewellery at Home

For most jewellery pieces, a gentle clean is all that is needed.

You can use:

  • Warm water with a small amount of mild washing-up liquid
  • A soft, lint-free cloth
  • A clean, soft-bristled toothbrush for small details or hard-to-reach areas

After cleaning, rinse carefully where appropriate and dry thoroughly before storing.

Avoid harsh cleaning products, abrasive cloths or strong chemicals, as these may affect the finish of your jewellery.

316L Stainless Steel & Titanium Jewellery

Our 316L stainless steel and titanium jewellery is designed for everyday wear and offers excellent durability and resistance to tarnishing.

You can enjoy wearing these pieces as part of your daily routine. However, if you would like to maintain the shine and finish for as long as possible, we recommend:

  • Drying jewellery after prolonged exposure to water.
  • Avoiding chlorine, salt water and harsh chemicals.
  • Removing jewellery before applying perfumes, lotions or beauty products.
  • Cleaning regularly with a soft cloth.

Although these materials are durable, plated finishes can naturally experience wear over time depending on usage and care.

Sterling Silver Jewellery

925 sterling silver is a precious metal that can naturally oxidise and develop tarnish over time. This is a natural process and does not mean your jewellery is damaged.

To help maintain the shine of your sterling silver:

  • Remove before showering, swimming or exercising.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to water, perfumes and chemicals.
  • Store in a dry pouch or jewellery box.
  • Use a silver polishing cloth to restore shine when needed.

For darker tarnish marks, bicarbonate of soda can be used carefully to help restore the appearance of sterling silver. Avoid using abrasive methods on gold-plated jewellery or pieces with delicate stones, as this may affect the finish.

Gold-Plated Jewellery

Our gold-plated jewellery features a beautiful gold finish designed to complement everyday styling. To help preserve the finish:

  • Avoid unnecessary exposure to water, perfumes, lotions and chemicals.
  • Remove before showering, swimming or exercising.
  • Store separately to help prevent scratches.
  • Clean gently using a soft, lint-free cloth.

Natural wear of a plated finish may occur over time depending on frequency of wear, lifestyle and care.

Piercing Jewellery Care

Our piercing jewellery is designed with comfort, quality and everyday styling in mind.

  • Always wash your hands before touching piercing jewellery.
  • Follow your professional piercer’s aftercare advice for new piercings.
  • Avoid unnecessary twisting or movement of healing piercings.
  • Clean jewellery gently and ensure pieces are securely fastened before wearing.

If you experience any concerns with your jewellery, please contact our Customer Care team and we will be happy to help.

Looking After Your Jewellery

A little care goes a long way. We recommend creating a simple routine:

  • Wear your jewellery after your beauty routine.
  • Remove pieces before activities that expose them to chemicals or excessive moisture.
  • Clean gently and regularly.
  • Store your jewellery safely when not being worn.

With thoughtful care, your Ella & Faith London pieces can continue to be part of your everyday moments.
